BUNBURY BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION
Established in 1956, volunteer organisation Bunbury Basketball Association Inc. (BBA) is a South West grassroots basketball association that provides a junior domestic competition, junior representative pathway and highly competitive Regional Senior competition. It has robust networks and relationships with many local businesses, schools, sporting bodies, and community groups. In 1980, BBA moved to South West Sports Centre, as inaugural tenants.

WA Premier Roger Cook announced an extra $17.7 million to top up the $8 million to fund the new stadium that Bunbury Basketball Association will build, own and operate.
🏀 We can’t thank Don Punch MLA enough for supporting the stadium since 2021 with his initial $8 million election commitment and then to obtain the extra $17.7 million, a total of $25.7 million to fund the multi-use stadium.
🏀 Also Rita Saffioti MLA, our Sports Minister for seeing the need and supporting the additional funding.
🏀 Shout out to City of Bunbury Council and staff for working with BBA to achieve this outstanding outcome. The City will contribute $3 million for the site works etc
🏀 This funding from the Cook Government, is a game changer for BBA, its members and the wider SW community.

While the carnival’s primary purpose is to bring First Nations people together to play and connect, we warmly welcome people of all backgrounds to join us in celebrating culture, understanding, and reconciliation.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Chick Elson, a cherished member of the Bunbury Basketball Association and a true pillar of our basketball community.
Chick’s dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to the sport and the people around him have left an incredible legacy that will not be forgotten, fostering a love for the game that will continue to inspire generations.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May his contributions to Bunbury basketball be remembered with gratitude and respect.
Last Friday was Chick’s last social outing at the Slammers home game. Chick was so honoured to be gifted the Corporate box for the game and was able to sit courtside with the BBA Life Members.
Rest in peace, Chick. You will be missed.
It was great to have the Deputy Premier visit Bunbury, it was a really positive engagement and opportunity to talk about basketball thriving in the community.

𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝟭 – Ages up to 12 years
Time: 3.40pm-4.40pm (Suitable for athletes with no prior or limited representative experience)
Development focus: Fundamental skills – a fun and enjoyable experience learning ball handling, footwork, and basic shooting techniques, incorporating small game play.
𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝟮 – Ages 13 to 18 years
Time: 4.45pm-5.45pm (Suitable for athletes with no prior or limited representative experience)
Development focus: Shooting techniques, defensive concepts, on-court decision making under pressure.
𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝟯 – 𝙀𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙚 13 to 18 years
Time: 4.45pm-5.45pm (Suitable for representative athletes looking to compete in Championship Divisions as well as trialing for Basketball WA training teams)
Development focus: Exposure to new terminology, high-intensity training, playing and decision making at game speed. Be prepared to work & play hard!

The Bunbury Basketball Association is dedicated to the promotion of the sport of basketball in the Bunbury region for participants of all ages. The Association believes that basketball is a tool to be used in community-building, promoting healthy living, and the empowerment of our youth in a climate of mutual respect healthy competition.
The Association tasks itself with increasing the participation rates for basketball, enhancing playing, coaching, and umpiring opportunities for members, and acting a central office for the development of basketball within the Bunbury region. The Association will use various tools for the execution of this strategy, including different levels of domestic/local competition, representative programs, coach and referee development schemes, and development models which emphasise the positive experiences of amateur sport for the socio-cultural, psychological, physical, and emotional development of our youth.
